How do you choose the right Mongoose All Terrain Board for you?

A lot depends upon your height, weight, age, ability, and style of riding But mostly it is more a case of personal preference. If you need help choosing the right board just send us an e-mail-we'll be glad to line you out. Here are some Guidelines:

Varmint 97 cm- This board is best for smaller riders aged 5 and up. The weight limit should ideally be for riders who are under 150 lbs. but the Varmint is tough enough to support larger riders. The younger skaters will dig this board for it's super light weight design. At only 10 lbs. this board will launch younger riders far and fast. An awesome entry level stick at an even more awesome price.

LiteCamb 117 cm-This board is best for skateboarders who are crossing over into ATB riding.  It is our second least expensive model since it uses traditional Skateboard trucks. The age range is 5 yrs. old and up and the weight limit should ideally be for riders who are under 165 lbs. Skaters will get their first taste of dirt on this board. It's also an awesome board for point and shoot style riding, ie., straight lining in-runs into a big air hit! Dude that was PHAT! The Litecamb rules the sky!

UniCamb 117cm- This board is a great light weight freestyle board with our stronger channel truck design. Its a great board for ages 8 and up and a favorite board amongst most of our pro riders who do freestyle. The ideal weight for this board is riders beneath 180 lbs. but rider up to 200 lbs. can ride it no problem unless they plan to do a lot of jumping or heavy duty off road riding. The UniCamb is the board to master backside 3's with. You can GO BIG on the UniCamb 117cm

Slalom 132cm- Our all around best selling board. This is one of our sturdiest models using 4130 chromolly steel components. It is designed for riders between 5 ft-6.2 ft tall. Just about any and all riders are good to go with this model. It is the same standard issue board for many members of the US Snowboard Team. The Slalom 132cm is the most well rounded board in our line-up, it's ready for off road ripping and as bad-ass as you can handle.

Giant Slalom 152cm- This board is intended for larger riders who want to make big sweeping GS style turns. Larger riders over 200 lbs and over 6 ft. tall like this board's length and size for it's increased stability at higher speeds. Other riders who crave high speeds will like this model too.  Get ready to mach- the GS 152cm is your board to set land speed records on!

How do I get the Spindle off this Goped?

1) First, unplug the spark plug cap so the engine does not start.

2) Take off the rear wheel.

3) Remove the gas tank nuts and lay the tank on the deck. You do not have to remove the fuel lines.

4) Using vise grips, hold the old spindle and loosen the hex bolt which holds it on.

5) Squirt WD40 in the hole that you just took the bolt out of and let it sit for 15 minutes to soak in the oil. Use this time to check your front brake, check the tightness of your deck hardware, whatever. Just relax and let the oil do its job...

6) After 15 minutes of oil soaking, see if the spindle will wiggle off. If not, take a hammer and beat the hell out of it...Oh!! NO DON'T DO THAT! Lightly tap the base and partway up the spindle. Turn the spindle and tap some more. You may have to do this several times. DO NOT hit the spindle real hard or you might break your crankshaft and that would suck. After a few or more taps, the spindle will simply fall off

7) Pick it up and heave it hard against the wall for giving you such a hard time before reading these simple extraction instructions. (Back)

Installing a High Performance Spindle and 3rd Bearing Support

1) Follow the instructions shown above on how to remove your old lame stock spindle.

2) Next put your new high performance drive spindle on and insert and tighten the hex bolt in the end.

3) The third bearing support fits on the outside of the rear wheel well and in between the gas tank mounts. Three holes will align with the bearing housing.

4) The screws that hold the bearing in place go inside the wheel housing through the frame and into the bearing housing. Tighten all three screws,

5) Remount the gas tank and rear wheel.

Don't forget to adjust the rear wheel to the spindle just like you would do with the old style spindle. (Back)

HIGH PERFORMANCE OPTIONS

We carry the following stuff to soup-up your ped:

1) High speed 800 mm spindle and 3rd bearing support, $45. This will give you a spindle drive that is 30% larger around than the stock drive spindle giving your ped probably 3-4 mph more top-end speed. (High Performance Drive Spindle)

2) High speed K&N air filter and velocity stack, $32. This will help your ped breath better and will give you 1-2 mph more overall speed including faster off the line starts (High Performance K&N Intake Filter Kit)

3) High speed expansion tuned-exhaust kit, $120. This will give you probably 4-5 mph more speed and faster off the line starts. (High Performance Tuned Exhaust Kit)

4) High speed intake carburator kit with billet manifold, linkages and gaskets, $65. This will give you 4-5 mph more overall speed including faster off the line starts. (High Performance Carburator and K&N Kit Complete)

If you do all of the above, your ped will rocket to up to 35 mph and you will have to work hard to keep your front wheel near the ground off-the-line! (Back)

How do I adjust my High Performance Carburetor?:

First of all, locate the "L" and "H" markings on the carb case. These markings are located next their corresponding "Low" and "High" speed needle valves.  The "Low" speed screw is the short flathead screw valve for screwdriver adjustment. The "High" speed valve is taller and has a "T" handle for finger adjustment.

Step 1: Screw in the bottom-most idle set screw all the way in.

Step 2: Set the low-speed ("L") screw to 1+1/2 turns out.

Step 3: Set the high-speed ("H") screw 3/4 turn out.

Step 4: Start the engine (you may need to adjust the low-speed screw slightly in one direction or the other to get the motor started).

Step 5: Once the engine starts and warms up for a minute, adjust the low-speed screw until the idle is as slow as possible without stopping the motor. This will give the maximum rich setting at low RPM.

Step 6: Hold the throttle wide open (with the rear tire off the ground of course) and adjust the high-speed screw to achieve maximum RPM.

Step 7: Important! Once maximum RPM is achieved, open (unscrew) the high-speed needle 1/16 of a turn. This will ensure that the engine has sufficient lubrication when running at high speed and adjusts for the load of your weight upon take-off.

Repeat steps 5 through 7 until you get a steady idle, smooth throttle transition, and maximum RPM.

Note: The High Performance Carb Kit will boost your speed dramatically. One thing you need to know is that the Walbro high performance carb allows the operator to tweak and adjust the high speed and low speed fuel jets to reach optimum performance. This is how you gain the best speed characteristics.

However, if you do not want to adjust your carburetor each time you ride your ped, then this might not be for you. Many people do not want to spend the time doing the adjustments and as a result they do not get the best performance.

On the other hand, if you do enjoy working with your ped and spending the time (3-5 minutes) to get your carb set before you ride off into the sunshine, then this is definately for you because this thing makes you go fast!

Carburetion for an engine mixes gasoline with air forming a highly combustible vapor that is injected into the cylinder. As you know, the air density and level of humidity, makes a big difference in this mix process. You will find that if you live in pretty much constant air density - no large fluctuations in humidity - you will not have to adjust your carburetor nearly as much as you do if you live in Florida like we do. Here the humidity can go from 50% to 100% in the span of a couple hours.

Please let us know if you need any further information.

How do I install my K&N and then choke it to start when the engine is cold?:

This is very simple and should take you maybe 2 or 3 minutes tops to install

1) Take off the black cover to your air box and remove the air filter  material from inside revealing the two screws that hold it on.

2) Remove both screws and remove the air box and carburator making sure you  do not loose the gasket

3) Install the chrome velocity stack adapter using the same two screws in the  place where the black air box used to be

4) Put on the K&N air filter and tighten the hose clamp against the  rubber sleeve so it is firmly tightened to the velocity stack adapter.

5) After you install your K&N filter you will notice that there is no CHOKE lever like you had on that cheezy black airbox you replaced. You can still CHOKE your intake by holding your hand or a rag over your K&N when starting it cold. We always keep a ped rag in our fannypack since peds get really road gritty  and you can easily keep somewhat clean if you wipe your ped before tire  adjustment and after refueling. We use our ped rag to CHOKE the K&N's when cold.(Back)

Edge Sports recommends that you always wear appropriate safety gear when using any extreme sports product. Also, please note that the installation of high performance gear during your warranty period will void the manufacturer's' warranty.
